Day Program Coordinator

The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) was created in 1956, when parents of children with disabilities in Burnaby gathered to advocate for the rights of their sons and daughters. We have grown into a non-profit organization that provides innovative services to over 1,000 children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities and their families in Metro Vancouver.

We provide a wide range of training, development, social, recreational and employment opportunities. Throughout BACI and in our social enterprises we support the employment (or economic inclusion) of people with disabilities.

POSITION: Coordinator
LOCATION: 2702 Norland Ave. Burnaby
DAYS OF WORK: Monday - Friday
HOURS OF WORK: 8:00am to 4:30pm (Flexible Schedule)

Education & Qualifications 

Bachelor’s Degree or Community College Diploma in Human Services, Education or other related fields. An equivalent of education and experience may be considered. Valid CPR, First Aid, NVCI certification, TB Test screening, Tetanus Diphtheria Immunization and a valid unrestricted class 4 BC Driver’s license are required.

Knowledge & Skills

To enable quality supports which move people forward in leading a good life, this applicant must possess a sound knowledge of the principles of person centered thinking and planning and positive behavioural/ communications supports.  Ability to support and coach staff to work successfully both in 1:1 and group community-based programs is essential. Flexibility, innovation and initiative are essential. Ability to dialogue, plan and interact positively with families and the ability to establish positive relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals external to the agency. Ability to train staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of person-centered plans is essential. Ability to coach, motivate, monitor and appraise staff performance. Good written and verbal communication skills including interviewing and performance management. Ability to develop and foster healthy team dynamics.

This position is open to male and female applicants.  This position requires “Union Membership.”  The successful applicant will be required to have a Criminal Record Search and Driver’s License Search completed and reviewed by the Executive Director.
