Community Support Worker

The primary job goal of this position is to support individuals to pursue activities and interests in the community as full citizens. Inclusive in this role are the following:

  • Ensuring that individuals are connected to family and friends
  • Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices
  • Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions
  • Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being

A key component may be to assist individuals gaining knowledge and skills to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community. The position enhances the quality of life for people. The position functions as part of a team.

Hours - 30 hours
Days of Work - Monday to Friday


  • Positions may work in various one to one or group settings
  • One year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and ability to promote community integration in active settings
  • The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential
  • Experience and specialized training related to autism and/or challenging behaviours is an asset
  • Knowledge and ability to use alternative communication systems would be an asset
  • Knowledge of principles of Person Centered Thinking and Planning preferred
  • Working knowledge of computers is preferred.
