Position title: Outreach Services Counselor

Position type: Full-time 

Location: Community-based

Hourly rate: $19.39 (as per collective agreement)

Hours: 37.5 hours weekly - Flexible Schedule (requires some evenings and weekends)

Education & Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a University or Community College with an appropriate degree or certificate in Human Services
  • An equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License required 
  • Use of own vehicle required with appropriate insurance coverage

Knowledge & Skills:

This is a community based position. Minimum of one year’s experience. Prior experience in teaching, training, and supporting people with developmental disabilities with complex needs including mental health issues, FAS, Autism Spectrum disorder and Substance Abuse. Considerable background in direct program delivery in the Community Living field with a demonstrated working knowledge of community based programs and CLBC. Well developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Good organization and time management skills and the ability to work effectively with families, social workers, CLBC facilitators and professionals. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and/or weekends and evening. Working knowledge of computers required.
